What To Do In London

Set on the north side of the River Thames in the upmarket district of Mayfair, the Dukes Hotel is near to a whole host of London attractions, galleries, museums, parks and other sights. The hotel looks out over the nearby St James’ Park, while other green spaces in close proximity include Green Park and a little further away Hyde Park.

Next to St James’ Park is the Queen’s residence - Buckingham Palace - a particular hotspot for many a photographer and tourist. Continuing east along The Mall you will eventually come to the Strand, home to several top theatres, restaurants and other entertainment highlights. Also around this part of the city are the likes of Charing Cross station, Whitehall and Northumberland Avenue, just a couple of the famous house-hold Monopoly Board names positioned at a high density in the area.

If you travel south from here you will soon stumble upon more famous destinations. Pass by Downing Street on the right-hand-side of the road, while a little further on is Parliament Square, home to the impressive Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, further feasts for the eyes. Meanwhile, just over the other side of the river from here is the striking London Eye with its futuristic-looking capsules.
Other places well worth a visit on the southern banks of the Thames are the London Dungeons, the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge made famous by its initial wobbles, and HMS Belfast which is moored up near to the Gherkin Tower. These landmarks and attractions are clustered fairly near to each other and are among the best-loved places to visit in the city.
